Thornbury Orchestra is an amateur orchestra based in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. We represent an enthusiastic group of musicians who strive to produce high-quality classical music for the benefit of local audiences.

16 July. Here you will have a chance to play through and work on Mahler’s First Symphony and the Háry János Suite by Hungarian composer Kodály. The pieces are being played purely for the orchestra's enjoyment and will not be performed in public. Thornbury Orchestra is particularly keen to hear from string players and musicians from local schools. Players need to be of a good standard and wishing to improve. The free-of-charge sessions will take place at the orchestra’s usual rehearsal venue of the United Reformed Church in Thornbury starting at 7.45pm. If possible, please bring a music stand and arrive at least 10 min early so we can arrange seating. For more information about becoming a member click here.
